Fafnir Rann

I bought a pair of Horus Heresy plastic heroes earlier this year. In spite of how close I am to having a fully painted collection, I can still have my head turned by a cool plastic figure with a dose of FOMO poured over it.

So here is Fafnir Rann

This figure was also painted mostly with Contrast Paints. I used Iyanden Yellow for the armour, and really the paint should just have been called Imperial Fists armour, because it seems perfect. I used a red brown to create some shaded areas of the armour, going for a similar effect to the recent Midwinter Minis terminators. I’m not completely happy with the results and if I paint Imperial Fists again I might try something similar but with more contrast medium so that the effect is not as strong.

As the Siege of Terra closes ever closer to the final sanctum, Fanfnir has less need of his tactical prowess and more use for this twin axes. Here’s the final view of Fafnir from the perspective of many a traitor marine:
