From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.
Gerard Brom’s fame extends far beyond Magic, and in fact Magic cards make up such a tiny proportion of his work that many of his fans may be unaware he has illustrated cards for the game.
If you look at his website you’ll notice instances where he has made minor changes to his Magic art in order to re purpose it for something else.
Here are some of my favourites of his Magic cards:
Magic’s Apocalypse set had plenty of desolation, and there was even and angel just for that!
Keeper of the Dead
Another card from the longlongago of Magic, this art gives great contrast of bight skin in an otherwise dark piece.
This art shows one of the machines of Phyrexia creating another zombie for its armies.
The first Mirrodin set had this angel as one of its centrepieces. The card has been reprinted several times, to the delight of many.
Three of the fives cards in this selection are angels, but as you can see they are all very different. This piece uses warm colours, in contrast to the others.
See all cards illustrated by Brom, or visit the artist’s website.
