The release date is getting closer, and content creators have put in their early thoughts on the range versus Contrast Paints, their most obvious competitor.
Pete the Wargamer paints a pair of models side by side to show differences in coverage and finish.
Brent at Goobertown Hobbies is an instant fan.
Squidmar on the other hand won’t be getting rid of their Contrast Paints any time soon.
There’s more videos besides, but I wanted to share this first round-up. Of course, there is at least one more options in the market:
I haven’t yet seen any videos comparing the three ranges against each other. Sorry, Scale 75.
Thanks for the multiple reviews! I watched both of those and (2 of) Dana Howl’s. All three reviews were pretty much positive. Some colours do look similar. The dropper bottles and lower price stand out as a big plus for me, and I’m much more tempted to get a few of these than I was to buy contrast. Now I need to wait and see what Azazel thinks 🙂

I was keen to get the set until I read about how easily the paint can reactivate in tgis review over on Tale of Painters.

I went from All In to All Out just like that, and im grateful to Stahly for his completeness and honesty.

Thanks for the link, none of the other reviews or previews I have seen mentioned this. I go back over Contrast paints all the time.

Yeah same here. Needing to varnish (or wait 8 hours) in between cleanups kind of defeats the purpose of contrast/speed paints to me.

Thanks mate, saved ’em for later viewing.
I’ve read through the Tale of Painters review, and have one thought – He used a satin primer, whereas Army painter specifically recommend a matt one. I wonder if this could have anything to do with some colours ‘reactivating’?

Could be – it’s certainly not something I have seen mentioned elsewhere, but maybe those people all have steady hands and never need to go back over their work!
