Scent of a Gamer

From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.

Cursed City complete

I painted the two remaining models during the week, and now the whole Cursed City box is complete!

Painted within a year of purchase is good by my usual standards. Painting this set led me further down the path of using Contrast Paints than I has expected to go.

The first model painted, Emelda, was done using regular acrylics. Above she is surrounded by models painted entirely or almost entirely with Contrast.

I also changed my approach to painting both gold and rusty armour while getting through this box, so this set ended up catalysing quite a few changing in my approach to painting.

Always a good feeling to finish a project. The painting is excellent and seems to match despite the differences in techniques. Great work.

Bloody awesome, Dave. Getting an entire boardgame worth of minis painted is no small feat. Congrats! And may you spend many fun hours playing it! At least as many as you spent painting it…

Yes I like group shots regardless of whether they are mine or other people’s. there something about a complete set or army that appeals.

Congrats! That’s no small task, completing a boxed set is still something I have yet to do myself..

I think boxes like this with a lot of variety are perfect for trying out different painting techniques and styles. Even if painted a bit differently, all the models look cohesive together.

True, and I think using that same basing material on all the models helped too
