Scent of a Gamer

From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.

Two thousand, three hundred and forty-five

It’s been a few weeks since I finished painting my collection of miniatures. It takes some time to locate over 2,000 models and get them set up for photography. As with previous updates I used our table tennis table to hold everything. This time, they only just fit.

With the miniatures removed the table looks like this:

But the castle walls aren’t the background this time:

I used to think of my Lord of the Rings armies as the bulk of the collection, but they take up barely a third of the space here.

Elsewhere other armies are lost in the crowd

It has been a long journey to get to this point, and I took about 6 hours getting everything set up for these shots. Next time I do this, the models may not all fit but then we could always buy a second table tennis table…

Looks great an impressive collection. I would go for a two for one option on the table tennis table just to make sure!

Wow that looks amazing. I have no idea how many painted 28mm I have, but I know I have over 2200 still to paint!

I was surprised how much space they occupied all laid out like that. It took a few hours to put them all back!

That’s pretty amazing to see, Dave. I’m not surprised that they completely overwhelmed the poor table tennis table. If anything, I’m surprised that it only took you 6 hours to set them all up!
Certainly a pretty amazing looking spectacle for us painters and gamers – and a rare one, too!

I set up, photographed, and put these away over three days, but I took the opportunity to tidy up some other stuff under the house too. I think having all the models and terrain in boxes to start with helped with the set up time.

Very impressive! I only have a rough count on what mini’s I have (and not whether painted or unpainted) but it would be worth getting them ALL out sometime. If for no other reason than I might get them sorted into trays together in groupings that make sense, and make it easier to look for something when I want it.

That’s true, one benefit of spending the time to take everything out is that you can pack it all up in some sort of order.

What an amazing collection, Dave! The pictures are seriously impressive! It is fantastic that you got them all painted too. That is an accomplishment that many in our hobby never achieve.

Wow. It’s an impressive feat just getting everything out for a photo, let alone the fact they are all painted. Well done. Very well done.

It took a long time and in fact I booked a couple of days off work to get it (and some tidying up) done!

My collection at the end of 2015 filled not quite half the table, I have managed to complete a lot more since then!

Now that’s a lot of models! And all painted to a nice standard, I’m sure collections like this are not too common. Now you just have to go and get two dozen Detolfs to display them:D

Joking aside, where do your models live? Are they all in storage, or do you keep a display of your favorites somewhere, or something else?
