Warhammer Skirmish previews

Games Workshop are advertising another preview session this coming Sunday. They seem to have a rhythm down for these, announcing 1-3 months’ worth of forthcoming models, and then doing the next preview just after the last of those come out.

The last preview covered the Horus Heresy Age of Darkness box, and that’s out. So on to the next preview! To my disappointment, there’s no Horus Heresy previews this time around. Instead, they are going to focus on smaller scale games:

Another new Kill Team starter box, perhaps? For Blood Bowl, I would speculate it will be the next team of legend to come, following the recent Norse release. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the Chaos Dwarfs, though in truth I am happy with the look of my current team.

For the other systems I am not sure, and for Australia previews start at the inconvenient time of 11pm on Sunday. I expect to catch up on the preview at lunchtime on Monday.

That’s a different War Cry logo, so I think that in particular is rather telling – War Cry V2, I assume…

Good pick up! I wonder whether v2 will lean into or away from the original concept of chaos warbands fighting it out

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Chaos Dwarves too. I feel like them and Khemri are the most sorely needed original teams at this point!

This is the big one for me, pretty much all the games I’m most interested in gathered into one reveal. Might throw my plans for clearing my backlog into disarray though!

Kill Team set on a space hulk (as per the trailer GW posted at the start of the week) looks intriguing. The preview video shared a lot of elements with the initial Squat announcement which may or may not mean anything. As guessing is half the fun I’m going to say Squats vs Genestealers would be cool but really I’ve no idea. The base of the little C.A.T robot that they previewed alongside the video matches the Kasrkin preview we saw so maybe them?

Blood Bowl: hopefully another team, Chaos Dwarves, Khemri, Amazons, Vampires or something entirely new. Hopefully not just a spin off with repackaged miniatures, I’m sure it’d be loads of fun but I’m here for the models damn it!

Necromunda: I’m enjoying the Ash Wastes and I’m guessing it’ll probably be new vehicles for some of the other houses but I’d prefer to see another new gang (muties/scavies or pit slaves would be good).

Warcry: I’m guessing we’ll see all of the new edition launch box and the rest of the Rotmire Creed. Based on what we’ve seen so far I’ve got a theory about the theme of this edition. The Horns of Hashut are followers of Hashut but instead of being Chaos Dwarves they are humans. The Rotmire Creed follow Nurgle but (based on one miniature so far) instead of being fat dudes with their guts hanging out they are sneaky swamp dwellers on stilts. The Chaos Legionaries (again based on one photo) look to be followers of Chaos Undivided but instead of being fur clad barbarian brutes they look like a dark version of a city watch or organised military. Could it be that the rest of the factions in this edition will follow the same pattern and we see Khorne, Slaanesh and Tzeentch factions but with a unique spin?

I’d hope for some 3d scenery if there’s a ‘Kill team on a Space Hulk’ box coming
