In rode the lord of the Nazgul

Getting close to the end of my miniatures you’d think I would be in no hurry to make more from bits, but that’s only because we have never met.

I had a spare Witch King model since I had used the generic Nazgul figure as the fell beast rider earlier. All I needed to do was find him a steed from the Middle Earth range, and lo and behold.

A ragged horse of Rohan turned to evil ends. In the book it is the Witch King rather than a group of armoured trolls who enters Gondor after Grond breaks the great gate of the city.

“In rode the Lord of the Nazgûl. A great black shape against the fires beyond he loomed up, grown to a vast menace of despair. In rode the Lord of the Nazgûl, under the archway that no enemy ever yet had passed, and all fled before his face.

He is also described has having a flaming sword, so I was happy to have the plastic figure to adapt to this purpose. I gave him a base suggestive more of the fields of Gondor than of Mordor.

The count continues getting smaller…

This is a really nice use of the spare Nazgul. You would have thought GW designed the mini in this way!
