Among the forgotten models I pulled out of drawers for the final painting tray was this trio of Back Numenoreans. There was no banner bearer model for the faction back in the day, so this is a conversion done for me by a friend, using a metal rod and green stuff for the banner.
These models were also underpainted, but I’m not sure it made much difference to the finished versions!
Very nice! Makes me wish I had picked up more LotR miniatures from GW when they came out!

It’s still my favourite range from the company, though it was hurt by their move away from metal miniatures. A lot of the range is now unavailable and pops up for sale occasionally, but in GW’s terrible resin.

There is something special about metal.

Great work. Love the shading which is always difficult when you have one main colour.

Yes, it’s always a challenge shading and highlighting when you are using black, but the contrast paint was helpful at least!

Detail’s come out nicely on them, Dave! 🙂 For essentially “just black” figures they look really good!

I think these are controversial minis among MESBG fans but I like them and I think the dark color scheme you used worked well here too! 🙂

I’ve always liked them, but have not spent much time in any MESBG forums, so I had no idea. I remember the Dol Amroth knights not being well liked, and the armoured hillmen seemed overfly large to many, but that’s all.

I think some people think they look too “Warhammer” but I think almost all the MESBG complaints are nitpicky. There are few bad sculpts in the line with the exception of Elrond’s sons. They have pretty terrible face sculpts unfortunately…
