Test, Test, is this mic working? — candore et labore

After reading DayKay’s latest update over on “Scent of a Gamer“on his search for a possible new blog home or options for keeping WordPress without paying extortion fees, I did some of my own snooping around the blog-o-phere. I found that I am indeed more productive in the early morning hours, probably why I hate […]

Remember Flickr? I didn’t, until I read the above article from Eric Ritter, who has been doing his own research into alternatives for image storage following the recent changes to WordPress. This is a solution wroth looking into, to see if it suits you.

I’ve been thinking about how to get more image storage off and on for a while now. I’m sure I had a Flickr account, might need to look into that again, thanks for the heads up!

Oh, and I just looked at the upload page, the free site limits you to 1000 pictures, going “Pro” gives you unlimited photo uploads and a bunch of business stuff; the 2 year plan is about $135/24 months.

1,000 images is okay – 1GB worth if your average image size was 1MB.

I’ve been compressing my photos for blogger for a long time. I was unhappy with the native resolution of my phone and felt that large jpegs are a waste of file space when most people will be looking at less than 1200 pixels.

Most ways are SUPER tedious. Eventually I found a program that will process the entire contents of a folder as a batch. Simply choose the max size and relative quality of resolution (1-100) and it spits out copies of the photos with an ‘_r’ attached. Generally I struggle to see a difference on my screen. Most photos are under 200k.

I just tried to find a link and it seems impossible. Perhaps there are more options now than when I originally found it. It doesn’t really solve your problem of being already out of space, but should you migrate it helps to solve a forward problem.

That seems good, as I am more comfortable with a PC than a phone, my go-to method has been either the snipping tool or just shrinking the image in Paint!
