Bones 6 launches

People unable to stop their impulse purchasing of miniatures can rejoice. Bones 6 is here, and offers a cheap way of acquiring a couple of hundred miniatures you may or may not paint over the next 10 years!

For those who aren’t familiar, a Bones Kickstarter consists of a Core Set and a number of add-ons and expansions. Add-ons are singles or small groups of miniatures you can buy separately, while expansions are themed collection of miniatures offered in addition to the Core Set.

The Core Set itself is often a mix of styles and genres, and it gets bigger over time. The more people back the Core Set, the more miniatures get added to the Core set, so more backers = more models.

As I type this, the Core Set consists of these models:

The image above is almost certainly out of date already, so head over to the Bones 6 project page to see where things are at!

I expect to steer clear of the project myself. I backed the original Bones Kickstarter as well as picked up a couple of models from the second and third Bones, and it took almost a decade to go from this:

to this:

I’m not sure I have the fortitude to buy so many miniatures at once again!

Hah. Nice work on your Bones 1. Most of mine are still untouched. Whoops!

Yes, I think my Bones I purchase turned into a cautionary tale for myself about not buying a whole bunch of models at once, rather than something to repeat every 2-3 years!

I respect you getting that many done, even if it took you a decade…. Still great work! The Reaper Bones kickstarters are a great opportunity but it is easy to bite off more than you can chew.

When they first arrived I looked at what I had painted in the previous two years and realised that it would take 8 years to finish the Bones at that rate. I increased my output but it still took longer!
