Scent of a Gamer

From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.

Tray 8 complete

I don’t give myself a time limit for any tray, but this one took ages! Almost 8 months in fact, about twice as long as the tray before.

These before and after shots show where I have managed to get. The main part of this tray was completing the Cursed City box set, along with a pair of larger miniatures from my Middle Earth collection.

This tray saw a number of changes to my painting technique. I really embraced using Contrast Paints over the past few months, came up with a better way (in my opinion!) of painting gold, and of painting rusty armour, and discovered the geek Gaming Scenics basing materials.

The ninth tray will be my final tray! I will spend this coming week getting things together for my final ‘before’ shot.

Great looking group, dave! I hope you feel that sense of accomplishment. I’ve really been won over by contrast paints… actually need to pick some more up this weekend!

Yes, it feels good, and it especially feels good to be getting the last few models prepped for the final tray!

Final tray?????? There never is a final tray!!! That is likely saying “that is my last glass” of whatever your poison is! Great work and they have come out quite amazing!

Good point – final tray until I buy more models would be the accurate term!

Great work, final tray is like saying final frontier, you can’t have a frontier without something beyond 😉

Excellent progress, Dave! 🙂 I think I owe you an apology – for some unknown reason, WordPress unsubscribed me from your site a couple of weeks ago and I hadn’t realised until I saw Azazel’s post about the WordPress new content/visitor limits (which suck)! So I’ve re-subscribed and now need to catch up! Of course I can’t rule out the fact that you removed me from your followers’ list because I’m really a thoroughly unsavoury individual, in which case you’re going to have to remove me again! Sorry!

No worries John, I have found myself accidentally unsubscribing before as well – you’re always welcome here, I assure you!

Always nice to see a tray go from undercoat to painted.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

    Congratulations!
Final tray huh? You’re pretty close to finding out what it feels like to have no painting backlog. You would surely be the first hobbyist to ever achieve that! But I bet you’ll have picked up a model or two before the test is through 😀

You are correct there already. Tray 9 will have 2 models released this year on it, because I couldn’t resist!
