Adepticon 2022 previews

These previews went live in the middle of the working day for me, so other than a few pics glimpsed at lunch, I didn’t get an appreciation for these until several hours later. On the internet that’s far too late!

Overall I thought the preview had some varied and interesting models, plus a new boxed set and a new games system. I’m going to cover the previews that stood out for me. You can see the full article along with the preview video at Warhammer Community.

First, we knew it was coming, but it’s nice to see the Ash Wastes box set plus contents:

Maybe it’s the colour choice here but the terrain looks very ‘Star Wars’ to me. Not a criticism, just an observation. The box set features an Orlock gang against Ash Waste nomads, and includes insectoid steeds and bikes:

I dread to think the cost in Australia, but this looks like a fun boxed set.

Next up was not much of a reveal in terms of models, but a revamped game system:

The Horus Heresy has had a Forgeworld line of books for some time, but now the rules and the range are moving to general release. There were a couple of previewed models including this MkVI marine:

There’s a cinematic to watch, and no doubt we will see more leading up to a retail release in a few months’ time.

The last thing that made me sit up is a new Blood Bowl team:

The Norse are coming back to Blood Bowl, but whether it’s the same list currently in the teams of legend supplement, or something new remains to be seen. Some people received Yhetee models from Forgeworld without having ordered them a couple of months ago, so the team is not a surprise, but it’s still nice to see.

No doubt we’ll see another set of previews in about 3 months’ time!

I am surprised by how much I like the new Ash Wastes stuff. No skulls!

Good point, maybe that is what prompted me to think it was more Star Wars than 40k!

I thought it was a really cool set of announcements, there’s definitely a lot to look forward to coming up. It probably goes without saying but I’m very excited about the Necromunda reveal. The Ash Wasters, the giant flea steeds, the Orlock buggies all get two thumbs up from me. The terrain looks ace (and I also get a Star Wars vibe off it). Can’t wait to see what other gangs/vehicles will emerge from the rad dunes.

The Horus Heresy game I have no strong feelings about, the trailer was very cool and I’m pleased on behalf of the game’s fans but it’s not really my bag. I reserve the right to get overexcited about it anyway as more is revealed.

The Norse (of course) are awesome – very cool models and it’s always good to see another Blood Bowl team.

The Chaos Knights are cool. Don’t think I’ll be getting them because a)price and b) I have no shortage of big Chaos models to paint already but I love them all the same.

The news that more Chaos is on its way is awesome, if not entirely unexpected, so I reckon I’ll save my cash for that.

Overall a great set of reveals to wake up to. 🙂
