Another random plastic miniature from the lower reaches of my bits box. This chaos beastman is another of Games Workshop’s one-part plastics from the 1990s.
Painting this figure was an exercise in figuring out how many Contrast browns I had available. The answer is four – five if you count the Skeleton Horde I used for the horns and teeth. Non-contrast paints here are the metallic halberd blade and the red eyes which you can’t really see here.
Even in the 1990s that halberd was an odd weapon for a wild beastman to be carrying. This was the only plastic beastman there was, and so you would end up with several units of these tightly ranked, halberd-wielding wild beasts. For one unit in my army I cut of everything but the axe blade then used the bits to made a double-bladed knife the the other hand. It looked okay, but today’s models do a much better job of representing the beastmen.
