Cursed City: city guard, part 1

I have completed the first five city guard models from the Cursed City box and had a lot of fun painting these:

These were again almost entirely contrast paints, the big exception being the rust and metal on the armour. The green robes are an eyeball mix of Akhelian Green and Nazdreg Yellow. I used just Akhelian Green on the banner, and the guard captain’s robes will be that colour, when I get around to him.

They look good. You made a great choice to contrast the drab armour with a single bright colour on the cloth.

Thanks, I think mixing some yellow into the green paint really helped with that

Really nice rust effects! They look very naturalistic. What is your method?

Thanks for that. My method for the armour was:
Contrast Basilcaneum Grey over a white undercoat
A brown (I used Reaper Muddy Brown) applied to chosen areas with a splayed brush
A 50/50 brown/orange mix applied to some of the previous areas (I mixed the above brown with Reaper Orange Brown)
A couple of touches of just the orange
A very light drybrush with a metallic (I used Reaper Honed Steel)
      done!

Thanks for the steps! I would have assumed you started with metallic paint. Excellent results.
