Cursed City: Cleona

The latest character I have tackled goes by the same of Cleona Zeitengale. She’s the Cassandra of the setting, who warned against the coming cataclysm, was ignored, and is now going through the ruins totally not telling people she told them so. But only because they are mostly dead now, mostly.

This one didn’t come out looking as good as I wanted, and it’s the first miniature from the box (hopefully the last) where I wish I had painted it in two parts. Those flowing cloth bits at the back really get in the way of your brush. In the end I decided on black because it just ended up working better with the model once it was assembled. After the disappointment of Cleona, I think I will move on to the skeletons and zombies next, and give the characters a rest for a while.

Well, even if you’re not the happiest with it that you could be, my first thought on seeing it was “oh, wow!” – so you must be doing something right regardless! 👍

Thanks – that makes me appreciate it more! I think I am focusing too much on what I had to do to get around the sub-assembly issue, rather than looking at how it actually turned out.

Hmmmm… I have heard that before, that she’s easiest to paint if kept as two sub-assemblies. And of course in a case of life imitating art I now realise that I ignored these warnings and built her anyway. Doh! Still I think you’ve done a grand job with her, no need for you to be disappointed with how she’s turned out. 🙂

This mini definitely has some spots that are not easy to reach with a brush. I think she came out nicely and you can never go wrong with a purple and gold color scheme too!

I echo the above. I think it looks great. With regards to the model, every time I look at it, the shoulder bit always reminds me of Ambassador Kosh’s survival suit from Babylon 5.
