From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.
It has been a terrible long count of years since Games Workshop last put anything, anything at all, on sale. They don’t believe in it, they assured investors, and would rather destroy or recycle unsold stock than put it on sale, or sell it off to third parties for discount sale elsewhere.
This week, they are having a sale.
Don’t get too excited though, it’s still Games Workshop. Different countries have different items on sale. The new Age of Sigmar box, Dominion, seems to be the only common factor.
In Australia a grand total of 7 items are on sale, including the two from the image above. For me, the prices aren’t enough to turn a non-purchase into an impulse buy, but if you were on the sidelines thinking about getting Dominion, or Warcry Catacombs, or any of the other items on sale, this week is a good time to buy.
Back in the long long ago Games Workshop would run 30% off sales a couple of times a year – my Tzeentch and Slaanesh daemon armies for Warhammer 5th edition were bought during these sales. By the early 2000s these sales were clearly a thing of the past, so it’s interesting to see them come back now.
Cynically they are simply getting rid of self-inflicted overstock items, but previously they would simply have pulped or recycled these, so it’s a welcome change from my perspective. I don’t see anything for me in this sale, but should there be a next time, who knows?
My title was a bit misleading, I mean, how can you have a fire sale if there’s no fire?
