Brom’s art tends towards the darker end of fantasy, but that’s no bad thing. He’s illustrated a number of classic fantasy characters including Conaman and Morgana le Fey, but I have veered away from those characters for this round up.
This art appeared on a Magic: the Gathering card many years ago; I like it better by itself.
This piece is more recent than Keeper of the Dead, and also appeared on a Magic card – back in 2002, making it almost 20 years old now too. Time flies, like this metallic angel.
This one is otherworld in a horrifying way; those old tales about elves and faeries were rarely happy stories, it must be remembered.
Michael Moorcock writes the best fantasy that no one has read, in my experience. If you’re looking for something new, check out his Elric or Runestaff series. Great fantasy that has leaked into many other works since it was first published in the 1960s and 1970s.
This video is a father and son video where brom is interviewed by his son, who currently works at Blizzard.
This elf looks more savage than noble. The spikes on the cave mouth behind him, and the skulls too give an air of menace. This is not the type to save travellers in peril.
