Scent of a Gamer

From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.

Age of Sigmar 3rd edition

The past week of Games Workshop announcements didn’t much interest me. I couldn’t quite figure out why, whether it was lingering bad feeling over the whole Cursed City fiasco, or just that the things being teased didn’t much interest me.

Age of Sigmar is a setting that is growing on me over the years, and the 3rd edition of this game was announced, along with some epic new artwork:

The figure here will be made into a miniature (of course)

The third edition marks a change of appearance for the Stormcast – the ‘sigmarines’ of the setting. So far I’m liking what I see, though I’m not queuing up to buy new models just yet.

There’s also a sweet new map, where apparently the story action of the new edition will be centred.

After chaos and death in the past two editions, it looks like destruction will provide the enemies this time around. I spotted a couple of Skaven lairs on the map though.

You can see more new models plus the preview videos (and a ‘new evil’ being tesed!) over at Warhammer Community.

I like the toned down armour on the new releases. The angel style centrepiece is possibly my favourite ‘non old world’ AOS model to date.

Yea, the new armours are a definite style improvement to my eye. I wonder how much of a size difference there will be between them. Might just be wishful thinking on my part that the ‘cleanest’ dudes might be slightly smaller and the heavies slightly bigger than the old-school stormcast. (Oh how it amuses me to use that term for any stripe of Sigmarines 😄)
