I’ve always liked a good fantastical landscape illustration. To me it’s like the start of a story laid out for me to fill in the rest with my imagination. From time to time I will receive a comment in a school report on one of my daughters to say she is studious but prone to daydreaming. I can confidently say that comes from both parents.
Alayna Danner‘s art works wonders on me.
Who travels this road? Who lives there? How exactly do you get from the smaller castle to the larger one? I can imagine answers to all these questions, and think about the significance of that tree in the lower right. Oops, another hour has passed!
Not a landscape picture, but I do like the many-hued shine on this piece.
Many artists have taken on the task of illustrating Yggdrasil, the world tree of Norse lore. I like this bright, life-giving version.
Another magical landscape, also illustrated for Magic: the Gathering. Comes with a walking trail to fire the imagination.
Another fantasy illustration I enjoy is the single figure looking out over a fantastical scene. Whether it’s landscape, cityscape or something else, I am in every time.
You can check out Alayna Danner’s website or ArtStation page for more daydream fuel.
Beautiful artwork, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Daydreaming while looking at some art work (or a miniature) is my favourite past time (and was when I was much younger). If anything I would hope your daughter never stops.

Her art definitely transports you to another world. Her style and skills are really well suited for Magic cards too. She can make basic land cards look great, I would think!

She has done a few over the years, including snow-covered lands!

Ooh, I started Magic around the time of Ice Age and I remember that kind of land from that era. That brings back some memories!
