Arta Monday: Hell’s Caretaker
Does Hell require a caretaker? Apparently so to judge from this art by Greg Staples
This figure remains enigmatic beneath its hood. In the blood on its left side we see death, but the branches in bloom on the stone throne show us life too. The caretaker’s robe flows into the floor until we can’t see where the steps end and the caretaker begins. With the dark cave mouth framing the image it is as though we have stumbled across this figure unexpectedly. Let us be on our way.
