From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.
Earlier this week I was counting my good fortunes, and realised that my dream computer game has already been made, and that game is Warhammer: Total War.
The Warhammer Total War games were originally announced as a trilogy, so we knew the third game was coming. The question was when. The answer now is “later in 2021”. Along with that the announcement video reveals something of the factions we can expected to see introduced in the third game.
Games Workshop have more details at Warhammer Community. It looks like the game will launch with three new factions – Kislev, the Chaos Daemons, and Cathay.
Kislev’s lands were always part of the map but the faction currently looks no different to the Empire. Games Workshop previously revealed some new Kislev concept art for their forthcoming Old World game. It looks like Kislev will be fully introduced with Warhammer Total War III rather than a tabletop game.
Also being seen for the first time is Cathay, the China of Warhammer. This faction never had an official tabletop list, although fan lists exist. What they will look like is anyone’s guess, but this means the Mortal Empires campaign map will be expanded to the east.
Will we eventually see Ogres and Chaos Dwarfs? I would expect Ogres to be introduced similar to the Tomb Kings, as a post-release DLC faction. They would occupy the lands between the current map and Cathay. I have my fingers crossed for Chaos Dwarfs, but we’ll see what happens.
My dream is about to get bigger, and I’m happy about that!
