It’s the end of the year, and the end of the road for this Once Upon a Wednesday series. I started this series in March, taking inspiration from another Dave, over at The Imperfect Modeller.
It has been a fun series to write, as it has encouraged/forced me to look back over the previous years of the blog to find articles for the series.
At first, I thought that is what this series would be – me talking about something I wrote in years past.
It turned into something else – an examination of how interactions with other bloggers have shaped this blog for the better. Not just the inspiration for this series, but again and again I found myself highlighting articles that would not have existed were it not for this community.
Another emerging aspect of the series was tracking my own blogging process and progress over the years.
The series is ending for now, but I can see myself returning to this in a few years. I’ve had a number of ‘series’ running on the blog over the years, and if there’s one tip I’ve learned, it’s to know when a series is running its course, and be prepared to replace it with something else. So there will be other series in 2021, I even know what some of them are!
Scent of a Gamer isn’t yet everything I would like it to be, but it’s come a long way over the first eight years, and I hope you will like to stay with me for the next eight.
I guess most of us engaged with the hobby are creative people and as such there is a need to move on.from time to time. Eight years is some going and I am looking forward to the next eight and what new ideas you have. Happy New Year 🙂.
