Bones Black: Frost Giant

This model is my first sampling of the newer Bones Black range of figures from Reaper. I have painted plenty of Reaper’s Bones models, but they all pre-date the ‘black’ range.

The ‘black’ is actually a dark gray, but I guess that doesn’t sound as cool? Anyway the materials seems harder than my older Bones models, and the darker plastic makes details easier to pick out with your eye.

I chose a larger model to start this range with, as I find the Bones material to work better on larger figures than on smaller ones. Now I look at the image I wish I’d put someone next to her for scale.

This is a Frost Giant huntress figure, so it was time to break out the browns and grays for painting. The fletching on her arrows provides a welcome splash of colour, and I made her skin blue, mainly so that you don’t think this is simply a larger scale human figure.

A nice figure there, Dave! 🙂 Calling her a “mini” doesn’t seem appropriate, given that she’s a giant!

Looking good, I have the one with the sword that can be seen in the bottom link pic. Had him ages and never ever got around to painting him.

There’s definitely a big quality improvement between that one and the newer giant models

Looks great, Dave. This is one of my favorite Reaper sculpts as well. It has nice detail and is surprisingly fairly unique. You’d think there would be other Frost Giants but I haven’t seen many!
