Blood Bowl 2020: the time of the Zoat

Some more details have been added about the forthcoming release of Blood Bowl’s 2020 edition.

I’ll start with the bit no one expected or asked for:

Yes, Zoats are in Blood Bowl now. I don’t know why. The optimist in me looks at the pose for this model and thinks it would work well for Bull Centaurs. I still hope my chaos dwarfs are only temporarily gone from the game.

The welcome part of the update for me is the confirmation that the rule book will be sold separately from day 1 of the game.

The article mentions that the book will include details of 21 teams. The poster I showed off last week features 18 teams. I think the difference is the three mixed teams which were released recently.

I’m happy about the separate rulebook, since I don’t need a new pitch, templates, or 30 odd new models. The rules will do for now. No indication of price as yet, but we’ll know by this week-end.

I have a question, it’s not related to this post.

Have you ever used any painting markers instead of paint and brushes on plastic mini’s? I just bought the doom board game and have zero interest in getting into the fiddly bits of actual painting. markers though, I could probably handle. Just wondering if that’s even a do-able thing. Your thoughts?

I haven’t used them myself, but the main issues people find with using markers is that it’s hard to reach recessed areas properly, and also you led to end up with a streaky finish as the coverage isn’t consistent.
If you already have markers though it would be worth experimenting on one model to see if it works for you.

Wow, Zoats in Blood Bowl? What a time to be alive! Do we know which team they’ll play for?

Not yet, my assumption is that a star player card will come with the model

In the previous edition he’d play for Wood Elves and Lizardmen, I’m guessing that’ll stay the same. He’s a cool model, I’m very tempted, but there’s a lot of nice stuff coming out at the moment so I’ll wait to see some prices before I let myself get too carried away!
