Blood Bowl 2020 launch teams revealed

I missed the article on Warhammer Community a few days ago which revealed the teams available in the 2020 edition of Blood Bowl. The article itself was fairly bland with some of the playtesters of this edition talking about how great it is.

However the article included this poster, showing all the Blood Bowl teams being featured in the new edition. You’ll probably want to click to enlarge the image and see all the teams clearly:

So eighteen teams in all, of which two are the new Imperial Nobility and Black Orc teams which come in the 2020 box.

You can see the teams which are in, but several teams are missing, including my beloved Chaos Dwarfs. Owners of Norse, High Elf, Khemri, and Vampire teams will be similarly disappointed.

I’m choosing to be optimistic at this stage. After all the 2016 edition launched with rules of only a few teams, and a hasty PDF was distributed soon after the release with the missing teams restored. However 2016 was a continuation of the rules rather than the re-write that the 2020 edition represents. So the missing teams can’t simply be re-presented this time.

My optimism stems from the fact that Games Workshop loves releasing new miniatures. All but one team i the poster above is released, and the Necromantic team are coming in the same month as the new edition box.

Any expansion to the number of teams will come form new releases, and having 4 or 5 teams released in a year is possible. I’m content to wait and see what 2021 brings.

I’m sure the new teams will be released at a later date. They don’t release rules for new teams until the minis come out, so it makes sense that they have only shown what they have rules for (so far) in the new book.

I’m hoping for even a PDF as with the previous release to cover the remaining teams.

Chaos Dwarfs would be great, the new noble team looks like a blast to paint as well.

Hm. Interesting. I’ll pick up the box regardless (because I’m an idiot) but I am disappoint at the loss of the CDs, which are one of the few teams I’ve ever played through a league with. Also dubious about the fact that they’ve kept releasing teams and Spike! magazines even with the new edition on the horizon.
I guess it’ll depend on whether the new rules are more streamlined and (more importantly) more fun and easier to teach as to whether i actually try to play it…

Yes I’m glad I didn’t buy the mixed teams as those lasted about 3 months

Norse and Vampire are my favourite teams out of those I own so I hope they are supported. Last box they released a legends pdf almost straight away and it included those, Amazon’s etc, so there’s hope. If they aren’t supported, I will be bitterly disappointed.

There’s a PDF file up now with the missing teams updated for the new edition!

Yep I saw that 👍. The original file had the Amazon Blitzer also having the leap still. To their credit they adjusted that within about 15 minutes of it being available to download. A 90k blodger with leap would have been horrendous! The wardancer would have been most upset 😂
