Neon Necrons

Dana Howl is painting her way through the Warhammer 40,000 boxed set and her approach to the Necrons caught my eye.

Taking inspiration from cyberpunk films and books, and modern day Tokyo photographs she has come up with a pink neon glow paint scheme.

The paint scheme also relies heavily on colour shift metallics – metallic paints which change hue as you view from different angles. My local game store just received a consignment of these, and I think I will pick some up to experiment with. I don’t have Necrons, but I am interested in going far and wide in experimenting on a Slaves to Darkness paint scheme.

Those are very nice Necrons and a great idea to paint them that way. I’m going to have to try some of that color shift paint too one of these days on some Tzeentch deamons.

One indicator to me that these paints are getting popular around here is that only one online retailer has any gloss black (the most popular undercoat for colourshift metallics) left in stock!
