2000AD aka ‘the galaxy’s greatest comic’ is something of a holdover from a bygone age. British comics used to be quite the industry, but these days there’s not much left besides 2000AD, which used to be the odd one out.
Most comics focused on repetitive children’s stories, or war stories for slightly older children. 2000AD was different, and frequently took itself in weird directions. Each weekly issue would have 4-6 stories of around 5 pages each. These ranged from episodic stories that would last for a couple of months, to grand epics, and even one-off short stories.
A selection of these have come to the Humble Bundle, which is why I find myself talking about it now.
The image above is everything you get in the bundle, and you can expand the bundle twice more if you want. Some of my favourites are in there, but the fact that I already own hard copies of Zenith and Halo Jones isn’t going to put me off picking this one up.
If you enjoy graphic novels, and you enjoy reading something different, this bundle has a lot to offer. Some stories date back to the comic’s origins int he late 1970s, but there are stories from basically every decade. I will definitely be picking up the full bundle.
Thanks for the heads-up, just bought this!

Purchased! Cheers for the heads up, I’d have missed that otherwise. That’s some gaps in the library filled! 🙂

Thanks Dave. I wouldn’t have noticed this, and I’ll have to buy the first set. It’s so tempting to get the lot.

I picked up the lot, and decided to read them in alphabetical order. I never read Absalom before as it post-dated my run of collecting the weekly comic but it’s a great story.

I’ve been mulling over this one. I’ve got a ton of Dredd but don’t know what a lot of the other 2000AD stuff is like, so haven’t pulled the trigger at this point…

Halo Jones is a classic and well worth the read. I hadn’t heard of Absalom before, but loved it on my first read through.
