Once upon a Wednesday: painting for others

Almost every miniature I paint is for myself. For a game I want to play, and idea I have had, or simply because I have had it over a decade and I’m going to paint it now, dammit.

Sometimes I paint for others, such as this Fellowship of the Ring diorama I painted for my mother.

I spent some time planning this one out, and also came up with the idea of putting them on clear flying bases. This way, they could be repositioned easily without covering up bits of the overall base.

I completed these in 2018, and they are currently sitting on the top shelf of a glass door cabinet. Pride of place, which is more than I can say for most models I paint!

That is an excellent diorama! Always cool to see someone else’s LOTR work as well. Thanks for re-sharing this, Dave.

I’ve been a fan of both the model range and the rules for a while. My mum has been a lord of the rings fan ever since the BBC radio play so she really appreciated the gift
