More new Blood Bowl teams revealed

The ‘second season’ edition of Blood Bowl is looking more and more like a major re-write of the game. There are more leaks than official articles at this stage, and I am aware that my beloved Chaos Dwarfs are no longer in the official list of team. Sigh.

However! We have plenty of new models and teams to be occupied with.

First up, the new Black Orc team allows you to take up to 6 Black Orcs, 2 Trolls, and then Goblins to make up the numbers.

It looks like an interesting take on greenskins, giving a challenge but still having the ability to be competitive.

More interesting to me is that we finally have a werewolf model:

This model is part of the newly revealed necromantic team. The team itself has been in the game for a while, but missed out on a model update, until now. The team roster has also changed, with Wraiths replacing Wights.

The sculptors also delivered an interesting take on zombies for this team.

They don’t all the the same scarecrow look as the one above, but being held together by bits of wood is a common theme.

I suspect this team will require two boxes purchased to get all the models you’d want, but this may be my choice to replace my Chaos Dwarf team. For a while.

I have deliberately not touched on the changed rules being circulated via leaks. I want to wait until I have had the chance to leaf through the new book and play some test games.

Hrm… I don’t like the sound of Chaos Dwarfs being Squatted. I thought GW were moving away from that kind of BS these days?

It was a sad surprise for me too, although I had noticed the team wasn’t being talked about in terms of updated models

I don’t know if it’s any comfort, as it’s hardly an official announcement, but about a year ago I saw an interview on Warhammer TV with Andy Hoare (Specialist Games) and he said they’d definitely be doing Chaos Dwarves at some point. He then went on to ask viewers if they wanted big hats or something more like the Legion of Azgorh (the consensus was big hats). Like I say, not an official announcement by any means but I’ve seen him talk about the plastic treeman and the necromantic team in the same way and both of those have now emerged.

Both the black orcs and the necromantic teams look great, I can see this being the edition when I finally get into Blood Bowl properly. The wraith seems to have had mixed reviews but I think the “ghost caught up in a washing line” look is brilliant and very funny. Those zombies are clever too – I wonder if we’ll see something similar when GW finally gets around to new zombies for AoS.

Good to know they haven’t forgotten chaos dwarfs!

Yea, I’d doubt they drop the Chaos Dwarves. They were listed in the Teams of Legend, whereas I think Slann weren’t. Eventually we should see Chaos Dwarfs, Norse, Amazons, Vampires and whatever else was left.

In the last edition, half the teams came under ‘teams of legend’ so at the least I’m hoping they’d do a similar thing.
The full rule book looked to have been leaked over the last few days. It is definitely looking like the biggest shake up I’ve seen since 2nd to 3rd ed. I hope it plays as well as prev versions.

I hope to see them sooner rather than later, but I’ll definitely be picking up the new book regardless

Is that zombie sporting a pumpkin head?

Even as a kid, I’ve had a weak spot for things with pumpkin heads. There was line of toys, small plastic men called MUSCLE men and one of them had a cape and pumpkin head. He was a sought after figure, that is for sure.

The leaks have been interesting, but people have to remember that print can get changed quickly. So as final as things seem, I’m not betting against any last minute changes. Can’t wait to get my hands on the new rulebook (or rather boxed set)!
