Scent of a Gamer

From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.

Wild boars painted

I bought this pair of boards in a sale at my LGS a few months ago. Emerging from the forest, these guys are having a snuffle around for food

They came as two models in a pack, I glued them to an old 50mm square base I had laying around and gave them a quick paint job with Contrast Paints.

Snakebite Leather for the fur, and then a dark streak of Cygor brown on their backs to break it up. Any plain skin on the ears, snout, and legs was painted with Gulliman Flesh. I think I spent more time waiting for each coat to dry than I did actually painting these models!

A touch of dark green for the eyes finished them off, and then I painted some basing material around them. I left out any grass tufts as these models are quite small, and having grass reaching halfway up their flanks would have made them look even smaller.

These boars are from WizKids’ range of pre-undercoated Deep Cuts models. The range is inexpensive and quite good.

I bought these as part of my efforts to support local games stores through these uncertain times. I have since switched from buying models to buying paints and accessories, but I will probably revisit this range sometime soon.

Looks like a nice little pair of sculpts there. Nice quick contrast job as well!

Thanks for that. I have enjoyed watching your contrast paints results over the last few months, and so when it came time to paint these little guys, I knew what I wanted to do!
