Tainted plasma regulators

I said I would do something different with the last two plasma regulators, and I did!

In fairness, I have been busy with the whole finally finishing the Bones project thing. But there was time to take a big brush and some craft paints to these terrain pieces.

This first one shows a regulator that is rusted through and beyond use now. Whether abandoned or simply neglected by the Mechanicum, this regulator will regulate plasma no more.

But wait. What is that fell green light? Might it lead to something?

The green has taken effect now, and this is regulating something kind of power, but for whom?

For our old friends the plague marines!

This paint job really was a fast one. Black undercoat, followed by a brown coat of craft paint, followed by a mix of orange and brown where I added more and more orange until I decided it was enough. Then I used a green and yellow mix where I wanted it, and called it done. All up I probably spent an hour in total on these two.

I like how they came out though, in colour and in monochrome:

Dum-dum-DUUUUUUUUUMMM! with the plaguemarines’ reveal as the dramatic music hits its crescendo!
I like the idea, and especially the dark, shut down one and the extra rust. I picked up some extras of this kit from Conquest, so I might vary mine a little more than I’d planned to after seeing this. 🙂

I picked up two of that issue of Conquest and after finishing the second, I wanted to do something different with the others. The idea for the tainted one came after I had done the rusted one and decided to add a bit of green colour.

These look great and I like the way you check the contrast with a black and white photo. That is something more skilled painters than I use and it is wise to think about it when you’re painting 🙂
