Bones update 53: flametail hippogriff

I’ve completed another of the larger models from my original Bones I Kickstarter: the hippogriff

The model is browns for the most part, so I wanted some flash of colour, and decided the tail could be a flame, because why not?

Here’s the model against a neutral background. I prefer the tower. The warning sign next to the bird is from a GW terrain set, and it is a functional addition. This model has a bad habit of tipping forward as it cannot support its own weight – a literal weakness of some of the early bones models.

The sign provides support while also adding to the narrative of the figure. Works for me.

Nicely done, Dave! Good thinking with the sign! 🙂

The hippogriff gave me an excuse to rifle through the bits boxes to see what might solve the problem – I always find something I forgot I had!

    That is some great work.

Are the bones minis easy to work with I’ve heard of them sometimes reacting to primers…?

    Cheers,

    Pete.

Yes they can go sticky if you use a paint on primer. I’ve not had any issues with spray on primers or under coats. Mostly I don’t use primer on Bones, you can just paint straight on.
