Storybook time for Magic: the Gathering

The upcoming set for Magic, Throne of Eldraine, features the game’s take on fairy tales. One benefit of this approach is the amazing art being revealed as the set’s release date gets closer.

Some cards from the set will be available in an alternative card frame. These cards all share a new mechanic called Adventure. The new frame takes the storybook approach and matches the visuals accordingly:

These storybook cards have seen new artists for Magic, new styles from existing artists, and some artists returning after a long time – the last time we saw Omar Rayyan’s art of Magic cards was back in Lorwyn/Shadowmoor block, the previous set which was influenced by folklore.

You can see all the alternate art Eldraine cards here as the set becomes fully revealed. I’ve been thinking about collecting each of these alternate frame cards, but something tells me I won’t be the only one.

When you talk about the alternate art, you mean the Collector’s Edition, right? I saw some place stating that the collectors edition was going to be selling for $450. US dollars.

Good luck getting the ones you want 😀 😀 😀

As I understand things you can get the alternate art in regular boosters. Collector edition is where you can fine the regular art but with extended borders.

Ahhh, thanks. Geez, glad it isn’t complicated or anything.

Personally, I’m all for a Collectors Edition. Keep the collectors happy and stop them from spec’ing on the regular cards. Some of us actually like to play casually and not spend hundreds of dollars on one deck.

I suspect my Knight Tribal deck is going to get a huge overall with this set. So many more black/white knights and spells…

The knights in this set look great, plus there’s a three-mana enchantment that makes opponents lose life when your knights attack.
