Well, here we are again; a brand new tray of models to paint.
This tray has a mix of older and newer figures, and figures so neglected they are still in their box!
Let’s start with those. 44 Saxon Thegns are going to be repurposed as the ghostly footsoldiers of my SAGA Otherworld army.
Behind them and also still in the package are 5 models bought this year. These are plaguelings from wereweevil miniatures. These are like nurglings, but more cartoony. I don’t normally work with resin, but these look characterful and are from an Australian desginer, so I figured why not try some.
The grey and green models are plague marines from the 2017 Dark Imperium box plus supplemental releases. Still on the sprue in front of them is a Foul Blightspawn from the cover of a recent Conquest magazine issue.
At the very front are two old metal miniautres and the wizard from the 1994 Warhammer Quest set.
At the back of the tray are 52 bones models, mostly from my original 2013 purchase, and a few from the later 2017 Bones III delivery. I bought a lot of miniatures in 2017 and 2018.
Updates as I assemble and paint these models will start as soon as next week. No more zero days!
I’m really enjoying this tray by tray Approach. I might well have a go at it myself, in a desperate attempt to get through my outrageous backlog!

It’s definitely working for me, even though I still have hundreds of miniatures to go I’m feeling optimistic about getting there!

It’s definately a nice way to break it down. I probably wouldn’t have the discipline, but it’s working for you, so keep on going! 🙂

I think what helps is that I always have the next models to hand when I finish something, but without an overwhelming amount of unpainted miniatures in front of me.

Makes total sense. “The Desk” is kinda like that for me, but the figures there sometimes get put away into tubs while others queue jump their way from tubs or cases or sprues in front of the rest.
