Games Workshop have released their latest boxed game. Warcry is a game of gang skirmish warfare set in the Age of Sigmar. Gangs vie for the attention of a distant chaos lord by fighting over ruins. Like PUBG but with chains instead of pans.
The contents are impressive enough; two gangs, some monsters, some great looking ruins to fight over, and all the cards dice and rules you need to play the game. The grumpy old man in me wishes they had added another gang or two to the box and left the monsters at home, but that’s just a personal preference.
You can find out how to play at the Warcry website
Having had a chance to look at the set up close, the rules seem fine for what they are, and there are plenty of scenarios to play. The two gangs can be built in slightly different ways, though I’d want to read through the rules before making any rash decisions. The terrain is the best feature in my opinion. You get plenty of it, and it fills a table nicely.
Of the six gangs available now, the Iron Golems remain my favourite even though they were the first ones previewed. Two more gangs are coming, but they aren’t photographed in the book, so I’m guessing the end of this year at the earliest for their release.
Also coming are additional terrain packs, including this one:
It looks like the box set terrain may also be a separate release. I need to get painting in order to justify buying any of these!
Warcry looks to be a fun game, and you can see more at Warhammer Community.
Agreed, the terrain looks awesome. I’ve already pre ordered the starter box 🤘🏼

I wasn’t planning to buy but a local retailer is offering preorders at $220 and it’s hard to resist!

As a matter of interest, where are you getting the “boxed set terrain might be a separate release” vibe from? ’cause I’m super-interested in that terrain but somewhat lukewarm on tons-o’-tokens gameplay, and I haven’t seen any substantial signs that the terrain will be available anywhere else.

I understand there is a third box of terrain on the way which will be the boxed set ruins, so there will be those plus the mausoleum and realm of signage boxes to choose from
