Scent of a Gamer

From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.

The tray in 2019

Now that I’ve gathered last year’s painting, it’s time to look ahead to the coming year.

This time I want to do things a little differently but still keep the tray. Rather than just have the miniatures I’m currently working on, instead I have pre-filled the tray:

That’s 122 models all up, fewer than were painted last year. Though last year’s total was boosted by the tablescapes dungeons tiles, so this is probably a realistic year’s worth of painting. It represents less than an eighth of the unpainted models I own.

On the tray for this year are the contents of Blackstone Fortress, a Gloomtide Shipwreck, an assortment of Bones models, 10 Genestealer cult models, the rest of the Middle Earth Dwarf Rangers, some Norman cavalry for SAGA, a piece of 40k industrial terrain I didn’t realise I missed last year, and a collection of older models, partially obscured by the dragon’s wing.

As I go through painting these, the tray images will be updated, and my plan is that at the end of the year what you see above will be fully painted.

I’m once again going for an activity-based target, aiming for 10 painting sessions per month as a baseline. With so many models to paint, I want to avoid this scenario:

We’ll see (that’s actually not a bad likeness of me!).

That dragon is pretty cool looking. It looks like a big job too…

Yes, I’m looking forward to getting it done. Large models and terrain pieces make a nice change of pace.
