Scent of a Gamer

From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.

MtG artists: Anna Steinbauer

Anna Steinbauer started illustrating magic cards in the 2015 Magic origins set, and since then has produced many more illustrations for the game. Here are five of my favourites:

Elusive Tormentor (Shadows over Innistrad promo card)

This art shows an armoured vampire about to take on a mist form to avoid capture.

Lovisa Coldeyes (Mind vs Might Duel Deck)

A great illustration here of the fearsome barbarian queen Lovisa Coldeyes.

Blessed Spirits (Magic Origins)

This card tugged at many Magic players’ heart strings with this art and the text of not all heroes die in battle.

Seek the wilds (Battle for Zendikar)

This art shows an elf exploring the far reaches of Zendikar, and remains my favourite Magic art by Anna Steinbauer.

Vivien Reid (Core Set 2019)

Vivien Reid is a planeswalker whose world was ravaged by the evil planeswalker Nicol Bolas.

See all cards illustrated by Anna Steinbauer or visit the artist’s ArtStation page.

I’m not into the game side of things but some of these images are stunning.

These are definitely some of my favourite pictures in this series of posts. Thanks for sharing as it’s an artist I’ll be looking at more

You’re welcome! I must admit I enjoy the process of sourcing images of this series, since the art is so great, and there’s always more than what I show.
