Azazel challenged us all to take out some old, almost-forgotten, and unpainted models and give them some attention this month. When I looked around, it turned out I had quite a few.
I managed to painted up 4 of them over the month using a speedpaint method, giving myself one hour for each model. Here are the results:
I went over time on the elf wizard, but the rest came in under an hour apiece.
This challenge has inspired me to make neglected models a permanent feature of the painting tray. I mainly focus on recently bough models, but having the older ones around too lets me tackle some of those forgotten models too.
I like how they came out, and I agree that it is nice to regularly work on neglected models as well as the newer stuff. As for me, I still occasionally buy new stuff but I’ve noticed that in working more on the stuff I already own my unbuilt/unpainted collection while not exactly shrinking isn’t growing either.
Well, it is growing but that is because people have been giving me old kits and models lately, lol.
I’m trying to hold back on new purchases as I still have around 900 models to go!
Nice work, Dave. I’m sort of the same. I occasionally like to work on newer models, but I’ve been trying to concentrate a lot on finishing the stuff that’s been accumulating, and is sitting around half-painted over the years. The “plan” there is to eventually have very few half-painted models, so I can let rip on painting new stuff and old stuff that’s never been started.
Thanks, it felt good to finish that Hive Scum after first putting paint on him in the 1990s!
That’s my “plan” as well: occasional new thing but mostly working on the huge pile of stuff I already have. Heck, I have a respectable-sized army that has been sitting in their boxes untouched for several years now!
Congrats on getting those four completed! Are you going to do “Junit”?
Probably – assuming I can get a unit finished!
