Wesley Burt has quietly illustrated over 50 Magic cards in recent years. He illustrated all the recent ‘oath’ cards featuring planeswalker joining the Gatewatch. He has also illustrated quite a few cards featuring the planeswalker Nissa. Here are five of my favourites:
Nissa, Vastwood Seer
Everyone’s favourite elven planeswalker is seen here as a young mage yet to ignite her planeswalker spark.
Nissa’s Reclamation
Here we see the older Nissa, bringing life back to dead areas.
Fiendslayer Paladin
It’s not all elf planeswalkers though. This knight is particularly keen on slaying black or red creatures. I’m fairly sure that is not a lightsaber.
Elusive Krasis
The Simic guild of Ravnica are constantly exploring new forms of life, as seen here.
Oath of Liliana
My favourite of the various oaths taken by planeswalkers. Here we see Liliana promising to help… as long as it’s not inconvenient.
Wesley Burt doesn’t have much of an internet presence that I could see, but you can click to see all cards illustrated by Wesley Burt.
I LIKE that fiendslayer paladin. With some of the knight strengtheners (don’t know the official term) being spoiled for Dominaria, I am thinking of making some sort of knight deck for commander.
That would definitely be a “fun” project and not something I’d fight hard with.

Ageed and I may strengthen my own knight deck with some of those Dominaria cards

Oh, do you have a commander knight deck? or even a regular one? Got a deck list?

I last played a knight deck over 5 years ago, so I’m afraid I don’t have the list any more. Beyond Silverblade Paladin and Knight Exemplar I don’t know what else would have been in there – I guess Knight of Meadowgrain and Kinsbaile Cavalier.
I’m keen to pick up a couple of copies of Danitha Capashen and take the knights out again this year.

Well, looks like it is Gatherer for me then. Time to start sifting through all the knights.
