Warhammer 40,000 industrial terrain

I presume this terrain series has another name, but this is how I think about it. After toying with and rejecting the idea of painting some rust effects on this piece, I’m calling it done – for now. I may come back to it later.

It was difficult to take photos of a piece that it both large and filled with empty space.

My method was to spray an undercoat of Leadbelcher, and then give it a wash with Nuln Oil. The a drybrush with Runefang Steel. After that it was a case of picking out some of the details.

I chose to pick out some of the pipes in brass, and the tanks in a dull yellow. A couple of the screens have a green surface too, and some tubes have been painted blue.

What I found was that once I picked a few bits out, that just revealed more details and features that could also be picked out. As I said, I may change my mind and come back to this, but we’ll see.

On to the next piece!

It’s great terrain. Nice work with the paint. Why no rust though?

I only picked up the Typus Corrosion/ Ryza Rust combo yesterday. Those Bones orcs that have been on my tray all month will be the guinea pigs, and then I’ll have a go at this.
