I spent a lot longer than I thought assembling all the models I acquired in 2017. In all it took 4 days of intense assembly to get everything together. I went wild in the UK mid-year, had a Bones II Kickstarter delivery, and picked up a few sundry models here and there.
They are all assembled now, though I can’t promise you’ll see them all painted in the next 12 months!
Here’s the full group shot:
And now here’s some closer shots of individual units and groups of models, starting with Shub-Niggurath:
Above her stand plague marines from the Dark Imperium box and the green ones are the easy-to-build add-ons. Plenty of detail on these models. They blend in to the terrain (also featured in this shot!) as I used the themed basing for all the plague marines that matches the terrain.
Along from there we can see a lot of poxwalkers, I think 26 in all. There’s a lot of detail on these models too and I look forward to experimenting with different washes when I get to these models. At the front and out of focus are a few Bones orcs, which needed their weapon arms glued into place.
At the lower level we see a genestealer hybrid gang, a squad of Adeptus Mechanicus Skitarii, and some Bones dragons and frost giants, along with yet more terrain.
Now that everything is put together, the painting can begin! I expect I will start with the terrain pieces, but we’ll see.
Man, those are some nice looking pieces. But the detail! I think I would go crazy. Probably end up dunking them all in a bright yellow pot of paint just to get it over with š

I’m not trying to enable you or anything but Army Painter have a range of ‘dips’ where the idea is to paint basic colours only and then dip your models in a stain to take care of the rest!

Thank goodness I live in a small 2 bedroom condo. Even that’s not an option š
Because I could see myself going whole hog into a hobby like this…
