Scent of a Gamer

From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.

Ash Wastes complete

I’ve finished the last 16 of my 32 Tablescapes tiles. The first set were painted in a desert theme, and originally I’d intended for to use a greener theme for the second set. In the end, ash wastes prevailed as the scheme of choice.

Here are the complete tiles from two different angles. I set them up on the garage floor as this was the best way to set them up with a netural background:

The well of skulls sticks out as the only break in the unrelenting greyness. I used three pots of Nuln Oil on this lot!

Here’s a closer shot with a couple of models and a bare tree. In the background is the base of a tower:

I enjoyed painting both themes for the Tablescapes tiles. It’s a quality product with some great detail. For practicality I think neoprene gaming mats have them beat, but if you like your terrain three-dimensional, these make a great base.

Really good work mate. I might do something similar next year

My ultimate plan is to paint up some of the new GW industrial terrain and integrate the two.

I agree – mats are so much more practical, but it really adds something to have high quality tiles like the Secret Weapon ones. The 1’x1’ format is much more flexible than the GW ones. Those look great, and I agree the 1′ x 1′ format is far more versatile, you can do so much more with the same number of tiles this way.

Yes, the square foot format does allow you a lot more set-up possibilities as well as (if needed) a good way to transport them.
