Today (fathers’ day in Australia) I had the afternoon to myself. Having received paint brushes as a gift I was looking to make immediate use of them.
While looking under the house for something I found these Perry pikemen and handgunners. They were in a sorry state. I had started to paint them but made the classic error of trying to paint quickly. The errors compounded after a poor choice of undercoat at a too-thin flesh colour. Three years ago, I put them away for another day.
I turns out today was that day. I had a look at them, tut-tutted to myself and set about fixing them, which involved painting them all over again. They still bear the scars of their bad beginning, but I’m happy enough with how they turned out:
These are Perry Miniatures European Mercenaries which come 40 to a box, if memory serves. I have two boxes so this represents just over 25% progress. I bought the boxes in 2010.
The models aren’t based yet because to be honest I’m not sure what game I would be basing them for. Kings of War is a possibility, but then what if I wanted to play SAGA with a Renaissance twist? So far I remain undecided on basing. Perhaps in another three years I will answer that question!
Nice mate. Happy Father’s Day
