Scent of a Gamer

From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.

Where it all began

I came across this image on tumblr recently and suffered from immediate flashbacks. But flashbacks of the good kind.

This is the image that got me into wargaming

I don’t even have the issue of White Dwarf that featured this image, but this idea of playing with painted miniatures on a table full of terrain stayed with me. I got into Epic Space Marine (the successor to Adeptus Titanicus) in a big way.

This image shows a scene from the battle of Paramar V, a world fought over during the Horus Heresy. I don’t think this is a planet yet visited in the Black Library book series, but I still hold out hope!

The idea that your armies can become part of something greater, and that your actions on the tabletop can tell or re-tell a story, is a big part of what keeps me interested in wargaming and painting ever more miniatures.

The models and scratch built terrain may look dated now, but they certainly had an impact on me.

I still remember looking through the Rogue Trader book for the first time. Massive impact.
