Mortarion revealed for Warhammer 40,000

Mortarion has now been sighted as a new model for Warhammer 40,000. Presumably he will be released alongside the upcoming Death Guard codex for the new edition.

It has been many years since Games Workshop last produced a model for this character, excepting the Forgeworld Version.

The last time we saw Mortarion, he looked like this:

This was the classic Epic Space Marine version, which I owned back in the day, but sold along with the rest of my Epic collection (regrets, I’ve had a few…).

The new Mortarion looks like this:

The power armour is visible, the wings are like two rotting leaves (or like fly wings, if you prefer), and the scythe is truly impressive now. He looms over space marines on the tabletop:

The Warhammer-Community group put together an entertaining YouTube reveal video:

Yes, the Mortarion intro video was fun and I got quite a chuckle of it.

Also wanted to ask, that old Primarch model, how big is it in comparison to say a current, non-primaris SM?

I’m having to access deep memories here, but it would be roughly the same height (with 1-2mm), but thinner.

Bit of an upgrade on the model, will certainly fit in the carrying case a little differently with those wings.

I’m not the biggest fan of nurgle, but this model is fantastic
