Warseer reborn

Popular website Warseer went offline in the middle of 2016 and did not return. Later information revealed the site had been subjected to a serious hack – in some ways unsurprising as the forum software was out of date and this had been pointed out several times – and this had rendered the site unusable. Many feared it would be unrecoverable.

This was especially tragic for those using the site to maintain project logs. I used to do the same before establishing this blog. Others lost years of their painting and modelling track record.

Fortunately the site is back, with a slightly altered appearance, and in new hands. No doubt further changes will roll out over the next few weeks and the new admin team get to grips and the community starts to return.

Forum sites are in some ways an anachronism, but in other ways they are thriving spaces where thousands of enthusiasts can easily interact. It’s good to see Warseer back again.

Whether you are new or returning, you can once again visit the Warseer forums.

That is good news. I did like Warseer for its logs and I am glad they are back. In terms of ease of communication I did not come across a better platform as a forum. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc. all are less coherent. Maybe I am getting old, but I do like me a well run Forum.
