Zoltan Boros exploded into Magic art back in the original Ravnica block, where his pieces with collaborator Gabor Szikszai caused many a jaw to drop.
His more recent work has been done solo, but is still worthy of a second look. Here are five of my favourites:
Blazing Archon (with Gabor Szikszai)
This card was one of those with great ‘wow’ factor and featured a white creature so powerful your opponents could not attack you while you controlled it.
Hordeling Outburst
Goblins are numerous in many of Magic’s places and the plane of Tarkir is no exception, where goblins can burst forth with little notice.
Unquestioned Authority
Who better to illustrate a knight of Ravnica’s Boros guild than Zoltan Boros? This card is from the Return to Ravnica block, which featured a lot of Boros’ art.
Mardu Scout
This art also features a goblin from Tarkir, this time surfing a sand dune using what appears to be a dragon scale of Dromoka’s brood. Have fun, little guy!
Krond the Dawn-Clad
Krond bears a remarkable resemblance to Blazing Archon, but is a different creature.
