From the computer to the tabletop, this is all about games. Updated each week-end.
It has been a good year for notalgia reborn. First Total War: Warhammer, now Bard’s Tale IV has been announced. This game is a sequel to the 1988 game Bard’s Tale III, not the more recent console game, in case you were wondering.
I was quite a fan of Bard’s Tale III, as I recently mentioned. This game is more about the spirit and the setting of the original. It won’t have the same user interface style or anything like that. This is good. While having lunch with a friend recently we were discussing the trend towards reissues of games, and decided that reissues without user interface upgrades are just painful. We made not notice year by year improvements, but we do when sent back in time 10 years by a reissue.
Bard’s Tale IV is looking good so far, with even those few details. I also like the retro album issue of the game available on the Kickstarter:
I missed out on Wasteland 2, indeed it was seeing an article about the successful Wasteland 2 campaign that introduced me to Kickstarter. This time, I won’t be missing out.
